Dear

This month, a few words about two additional diagnostic tools.

The MV-Flow™ displays and quantifies the microvascular architecture of lesions.
The Lumiflow™ two-dimensional Doppler technology uses a post-processing tool to give an image a three-dimensional appearance.

Optional on our premium products and now also available on the HS60

Sincerely,

Riccardo Berti
Manager Samsung Ultrasound

Topic: Ultrasound Basics

How to get the most out of your Color Doppler

  1. Make sure that the PRF or Scale (the speed of the blood flow) on your machine is correct. Aliasing¹ is the term used when the speed set-up on the machine is slower than the actual speed of the vessel.

All our machines are delivered with the Color Doppler speed well adjusted.

  2. Check that the gain is not too high (blooming²) nor too low (no signal). A good way to adjust your machine (if necessary) is to turn the color gain too high (until you see color everywhere!) and then to decrease it until all the blooming is gone.
  3. Keep the size of the color box to a minimum- a too large box will slow the frame rate of the machine.
  4. When using the linear probe, make sure that your color box is pointing in the right direction (color box steering³), Keep in mind that the color box can be red over blue or inverse, it doesn’t matter: whatever color is on top is the direction towards the probe.
  5. In case of deep vessels, make sure that the frequency of the color is decreased (lower frequency gives a better signal in the deep, just like in the B-Mode).

At MediTron, we are committed to delivering our machines with the correct presets so that you can spend more time with your patients, and less time adjusting your machine.
